Make a difference on an ongoing basis in the lives of moms, dads, and families

OUR HEARTBEAT

Volunteers are our most valuable resource and serve as an essential part of the ministry. Our volunteers enable us to effectively serve and support our clients during the difficulties of a crisis pregnancy and beyond. Being a volunteer at BsideU For Life has eternal value. Serving in this ministry offers men and women the opportunity to use their God-given gifts and abilities to empower women to boldly choose life for their child and embrace the truth of the gospel. Please prayerfully consider how the Lord is calling you to be involved with this life-saving, life-changing ministry.

Pregnancy Center Advocate

Advocates will walk with clients through their pregnancy test, results, and decision-making process. Our volunteer advocates have a unique opportunity to help a woman understand all her choices by sharing the truth about fetal development, abortion procedures and risks, sexual integrity, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. The advocate also has the chance to provide helpful referrals, encourage, and pray with the client. We fully train all of our advocates (roughly 20 hours of training) and typically require a weekly commitment of 4 hours.

Medical Professionals Nurses (LPN or RN)

Nurses will teach a weekly (Monday mornings and Thursday evenings) class for our expectant mothers to help them learn about pregnancy and birth.

Abortion Recovery Facilitator

At BsideU we care both about the person who is in a crisis pregnancy decision as well as those who have already made their decision. We host several abortion healing groups using the curriculum called Forgiven and Set Free. This study has been extremely impactful and powerful in many people's lives. We desire to train up more facilitators to enable us to provide healing to those in need.

Teacher/Class Assistant

Class teachers and assistants serve our women who are desiring to grow through our classes. These classes include a variety of topics from baby care, pregnancy, birth, finances, parenting, emotional wellness, sexual abstinence, Bible studies, and more. These classes take place M-F from 10:00am-2:00pm and change on a monthly basis. Volunteers are able to sign up for 1 class per week for a month at a time.

Childcare Assistant

Our child care assistants serve our children while their mothers are in class. During the school year we serve children who are five and under. During the school breaks we have children up to fifth grade. A childcare shift is from 9:45am-2:15pm. Childcare volunteers are able to serve weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

Lunch Room Assistant

Lunch room assistants coordinate with our kitchen manager to either support her in cooking a meal, plan and purchase items for a meal and then prepare them in our kitchen, or provide catering. A typical volunteer shift might be 11:00am-1:30pm but there is some flexibility in the time. Lunchroom assistance can volunteer weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. They can serve as an individual or as a group.

Administrative

There are seasonal administrative tasks like data base clean up, Baby Bottle phone calls, stuffing envelopes, preparing mailers, prepping for events, and various other tasks that are typically on a seasonal to as needed basis.

Donor Relations Support

A person who, after receiving one-on-one instruction about the mission and goals of the ministry, will help with reaching others for the benefit of the ministry.

Event Planning

This person will serve on a planning committee for one of our special events. Responsibilities may include attending planning meetings, contacting potential supporters, designing promotional materials, and being on-site the day of the event. Experience with marketing, fundraising, or graphic design is helpful, but not required.

Event Help

We have three major events throughout the year Golf, Bike, and Banquet. We often need assistance on the days leading up to the event and on the day of the event.

Networking

Help us further connect with life-loving individuals and businesses in our community.

Teacher/Class Assistant

Assist with our women's group going through Celebrate Recovery or assist with our fatherhood support group. Class teachers and assistants serve our women who are desiring to grow through our classes. Volunteers serve from 5:30pm-8:30pm.

Childcare Assistant

Our child care assistants serve our children while their parent are in class. On Thursday nights we serve children from infant-hood up to fifth grade. Volunteer shifts are from 5:30pm-8:30pm.

Prepare and Serve Dinner

Coordinate with our kitchen manager to prepare a meal in our kitchen or provide catering. Typical shift would be 4:30pm-6:30pm.

Pregnancy Center Advocate

Organizing Baby & Maternity Clothing

As part of our ministry to women in crisis pregnancies, we are blessed to be able to offer them material support. Our behind the scenes team of benevolence volunteers are responsible for taking inventory of donated items, sorting, and storing them according to our system. This critical volunteer position requires no training and is a bi-monthly or weekly commitment.

Prayer Ministry

Grounds and Housekeeping

The grounds and housekeeping volunteer will help with the maintenance of landscape, cleaning of our facilities, and general handyman duties such as changing light bulbs and small repairs.

RV Pit Crew Member

RV Pit Crew will provide service and maintenance help on a regular basis in the form of dumping holding tanks, refilling water and refreshing toilet/septic tank, logging generator hours, checking fluid levels, filling the gas tank and periodically cleaning the unit when pregnancy staff are finished for the week. This is a vital service position that will allow us to keep the cost down for operating our mobile clinic and help us reach even more women in the greater Louisville area and beyond.

Our volunteers are highly committed, compassionate people who make a big difference in the lives of our clients. Because we are committed to upholding a high level of care for the women who come to us, all potential volunteers undergo a screening and interview process.

Church Liaison

This person is asked to promote the ministry in their local church family. They help promote their church’s awareness of our services, fundraising events, information tours, and refer potential volunteers to the volunteer coordinator. Life Team Leader

We are looking for church members who are interested in starting a Life Team at their church. This is a small group of people who will go through our Making Life Disciples curriculum to help them prepare to care for a woman or a couple who is facing an unplanned pregnancy. This helps prepare your small group to disciple this woman/couple. Life Teams help a woman in need connect with the church at large.

Baby Bottle

Ask about hosting a baby bottle drive at your church. This is a small way your church can collect loose change for the benefit of the ministry. This also gives you an opportunity to talk about the services BsideU offers at your church.
