Team Life Bike Ride 2022 Recap
What happens when you gather folks who are passionate about bike riding on a gorgeous summer day with the common goal of raising money to help moms and babies in need? On August 13th, we witnessed it all: exhilaration, competition, lots of story-telling, laughter and some hefty appetites showed up during our Team Life Bike Ride. Some of our riders have been involved nearly each of the 11 years we’ve held this tradition, and some came for the first time this year. Whether veterans, novices, or newbies, all enjoyed coming out to Southeast Christian Church to connect with our BsideU staff, volunteers and other riders in support of saving babies, and reaching their mothers for Christ.
This year, 83 riders joined, with the option to take one of three courses marked out – a 14 mile, 23 mile and a 50 mile option. We even had one family participate from South Carolina (thank you Rickert family), and another with young ones in tow limited their ride to the safety of the parking lot! Scheller’s Fitness and Cycling had their mobile bike tech station on hand to help riders with proper bike setup and emergency repairs. We started the day with breakfast from Chick-fil-A, and along the way, Boy Scout Troup 380 provided snack and drink stations. Jet’s Pizza and celebratory cake and plenty of water were available at the end of the ride, and participants enjoyed reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones, sharing their common love for riding and for the ministry.
The generosity of the riders and their sponsors meant that Team Life brought in $56,000 for BsideU! We’re so thankful to each person and organization that makes this annual event a success. First and foremost, our sincere appreciation goes out to Ed Stitzler, our Team Life Bike Ride Captain, along with committee members Jeremy Bower, Andy Gunkler, Glen Hedgspeth, Larry Hedgspeth, Todd Malone, Kelly McGill and Chris Stinson, all who are the heart of our bike ride. We couldn’t do it without them! We also want to thank our title sponsor, Zoeller Pump Company, all of our other generous sponsors, each of the riders and volunteers who worked to make this event a success. We’re already planning for next year’s event, and you don’t want to miss it, so save the date of Saturday, August 12th, 2023. We look forward to seeing you there!
