Save a Life Tour

Friendly chatter filled the atmosphere as our small group was led through the halls and spaces that make up the BsideU For Life facility. Monica Henderson, our Executive Director, shared details about the various areas of the ministry as she led the visitors by classrooms, counseling rooms, the benevolence area, the Children’s ministry, the kitchen and playground. Going through the Pregnancy Resource Center includes a stop outside our ultrasound room. One in our group spoke what we were all thinking: “life saving decisions have been made here”.

Just outside of the ultrasound room is a memorial wall where, on a rugged pallet board backdrop, surrounding the shape of a cross, clients and their family members who’ve gone through post-abortive counseling with BsideU staff or volunteers have the opportunity to post a message, written on a plaque, to a child that isn’t here today because of an abortion decision in the past. This has been an impactful part of a healing and forgiveness process for many. Each message is sobering and heart-wrenching. Perhaps one of the saddest dedications is from a grandmother who forced her daughter to abort her unborn child; two years after her abortion, this grandmother’s daughter committed suicide.

Monica continued sharing that the BsideU team is so thankful that our donors have always generously stepped up any time we’ve shared a need related to ultrasound equipment. The ability for a mom to see her baby and hear his or her heartbeat is a vital tool in the fight to change hearts and minds toward life.

Our Save a Life Tour happens once per month, and is an opportunity for donors, supporters, or those just interested in learning more about the ministry to hear about the work we do, our history, and see the places where it all happens. We enjoy welcoming friends of the ministry in to share the amazing work that God is doing here. Over a boxed lunch, participants will hear from Monica or another staff member, and one of our board members. We share one of several testimonial videos – for example the one explaining our rebrand to BsideU For Life after combining under a single roof A Woman’s Choice Resource Center with our Life Skills ministry, Necole’s Place. After that, participants will be able to tour the facility.

This is a great way for those who’ve not yet seen our location at 701 West Muhammed Ali to get to know the ministry better. It’s also a great way to invite a friend or family member who you may want to introduce to the ministry to learn more about it. Either way, we’d love to see you at our next Save a Life Tour, which is planned for Monday, July 11th. Click here to learn more and register.
