Staff Spotlight: Kimberley Forsythe

One of the first things you notice about Kimberley Forsythe when you first meet her is her heart for children. Her love for kids, especially those that are more at risk or vulnerable, is evident. As BsideU For Life’s new Children’s Ministry Coordinator/Lead Teacher, her laser focus is to instill in each child’s heart that God knows their name and that He cares for them and loves them! “We want them to understand that they are precious in God’s sight” Forsythe said of each child that spends time in the ministry.

Many of the children that come to BsideU For Life with their mothers have been through some extreme challenges and traumatic experiences. While the ministry is built around protecting the unborn, our calling goes beyond that to come alongside mothers who are going through or have been through a crisis pregnancy. One of the ways we serve them is by providing childcare, so they can attend appointments and life skills classes. Kimberley approaches the time spent with children as an opportunity to break the cycle, instilling the truth of God’s word in their hearts. She knows that once God’s love is embraced by a child, the Holy Spirit will continue to work in them, even if they’re not able to continue coming to the program.

Kimberly is no stranger to working with children who have been through traumatic events. She and her husband just returned to Louisville after spending 23 years working in ministry with the International Missions Board in Senegal, West Africa, where she focused on children’s ministry. Kimberly also served as a teacher and mentor to other children’s ministry leaders across the African continent while she was there. She and her husband have four children of their own, and they just welcomed their first grandchild earlier this year!

Children’s ministry at BsideU For Life is a bit different now than it was before the pandemic. In preparation for resuming programming earlier this month, the team has deep cleaned all surfaces, toys, and books, taking steps to ensure that processes and procedures follow CDC guidelines. Programming and play time will also be a little different, but the core principles remain the same.
