Graduation and Beyond

A core tenet of our mission here at BsideU For Life is to walk beside mothers who come to us as a result of a crisis pregnancy to advocate for, support and minister to them and their families beyond the pregnancy center. We do this through our Life Skills and Children’s programming, as well as through the community that happens as a result of building relationships, sharing the gospel and celebrating milestones with each other during classes and in the moments in between. We’d like to highlight this part of our ministry by sharing the story of one of our clients.

Hannah first came to BsideU For Life last fall when she learned she was pregnant. Her boyfriend had decided that an abortion was best, but Hannah decided to choose life for her baby, and BsideU was the lifeline she needed so much at this point in her life.

Hannah had recently moved to Louisville from a more rural part of the state, and doesn’t have any family living in the area. She is a Christian, but didn’t have friends supportive of her beliefs to lean on. After first connecting with our pregnancy center, she began coming to our Life Skills programming, and working with Elizabeth, our GED and computer instructor, on a plan to achieve her high school diploma.

Among our staff and the community with other clients, Hannah has found a family and the support system she desperately needed. Hannah’s determination has been inspiring, and with Elizabeth’s guidance and the use of our computer lab, she was able to attain her high school diploma through Jefferson County Public School’s e-school option, in only two months! She met her goal to get her diploma before her baby was born, and she’s done this while maintaining a full time, third shift job. To celebrate her achievement, we held a mini graduation ceremony here at BsideU.

Hannah’s baby girl is due this summer, but that hasn’t stopped her from enrolling in classes at Jefferson County Technical School to continue her education path. She would like to pursue a career in Psychology.

Please join us in praying for Hannah and all of our clients – that they will be aware of God’s presence, love for and pursuit of them, and be open to His plan for their lives. We are thankful that God allows BsideU For Life to be a catalyst in that process, as He turns hearts toward life!
