Banquet 2022 Recap

Our war isn’t against flesh and blood, but against the forces of evil that have gripped many in our nation, from our neighbors to political leaders across our country. We have an enemy that seeks to steal, kill and destroy. This message was a common thread throughout each speaker’s words during our banquet in September. Right here right now was our theme, and it’s a timely one given what we’ve seen over the past few months. The Supreme Court’s ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization overturned Roe v. Wade, reversing the invented constitutional right to abortion. As a result, the issue of life in the womb came to center stage in our country, and a spotlight has been put on the dark and evil culture of death.

Monica Henderson, our Executive Director gave an update on the ministry and some of the opposition and support we’ve seen in the months following the Dobbs decision. We also shared video testimony from multiple clients, both fathers and mothers, who testified to BsideU being in the right place, at the right time, equipping them to choose life for their children, and fulfill their God-given calling as parents.

Bob Russell, former Senior Pastor of Southeast Christian Church, and founder of Bob Russell Ministries, was our keynote speaker. He raised examples of some of the vitriol that has ensued since the ruling, both verbally from some political leaders and physically from violent groups that have attacked organizations similar to ours. He asked the question “Why would there be such animosity against pregnancy resource centers that seek to help women in a time of need?” He pointed out that there is more going on than what we can see: an intensifying spiritual warfare is driving the attacks and lies that are being perpetuated by this culture of death.

Despite the heavy reality, the messages were also filled with hope and optimism. We serve the author and creator of life, and in the end, we know He wins the war! Russell pointed out that we don’t fight evil with evil, that we need to stand for life and not back down. He challenged the church to be fearless and willing to speak up, even if it draws fire, while encouraging others to do the same. We have the opportunity to do that very practically in Kentucky on election day next week, by voting Yes for Life on Amendment 2.

This year’s banquet was the third largest we’ve ever had with 650 attendees, and we’re thrilled to share that we’ve met our fundraising goal. If you weren’t able to attend, it’s not too late to donate toward our mission of saving babies and their mom’s for Christ. You can do that by clicking here.
